League Rules

Rules

Shoreline Hockey League is a 4 on 4 summer hockey league based out of the Plex Arena in Saugeen Shores.  The league will run from late May to mid August 2025.  Registration (coming soon) will be open to all players born between 2013 - 2017 from any minor hockey association.  Each team will play one game per weekly on a rotation of either Tuesday, Wednesday or Sunday evenings.

Teams will consist of up to 12 skaters, plus 1 goaltender. Players will be selected to teams and divisions (Elite, All Star, Pro & Rookie) based on skill set to ensure an equal and competitive environment. The regular season will consist of 10 regular season games (5 home/5 away) followed by 3 playoff games per team, ranked based on the regular season standings.

Shoreline hockey will follow all youth hockey rules and regulations from tradition youth hockey programs.  This will include offsides, icing, penalties, faceoffs after goals and play stoppages.

Each game will consist of a 3 minute warm up and two 20 minute straight time periods.  Each team will be permitted 1x30 second time-out.  Line changes will only be permitted during live play to keep games active.  Teams will be awarded points for wins and ties to count in the division standings.  Player/team statistics and awards will be tracked and available on the www.shorelinehockey.ca website.  An official Shoreline Hockey League rule manual will be issued prior to the start of the 2025 SHL summer hockey season.
