Tuesday 5-9pm
Wednesday 5-9pm
Sunday 3-7pm
Q: When will the season start/finish?
A: We plan to hold 2 or 3 evaluation skates starting the 3rd week in May 2025 and the season kicking off on June 3rd, 2025. League Championships will commence on August 17th.
Q: Will there be any awards handed out throughout or at the end of the season?
A: Division champions will be awarded championship medals. Division MVP & Goalie awards will be awarded as well. Through the year, we will be selecting a “Player of the week” award.
Q: Where will the games be played?
A: All evaluation skates and games will be played out of the Plex in Port Elgin.
Q: Are girls and boys both able to play?
A: Both boys and girls can play in the league.
Q: How will the Shoreline Hockey League effect my athlete’s summer programs like Baseball, Swimming, Soccer, Lacrosse, etc?
A: The Shoreline Hockey League schedule will be on a rotor. That means that your athlete will not just play every Tuesday night. Instead, they will be on a rotation between Tuesday, Wednesday nights and Sunday afternoons. Playing on Tuesday one week, Wednesday the next week and Sunday the following week. This should aid in the impact on other sports. We firmly believe that kids should play multiple sports and feel this approach will allow that to the best of our ability.
Q: How will teams be selected?
A: Prior to the beginning of the season, players will attend evaluation skates where a selection committee will assess the skill level of each participant. From there, players will be placed in the appropriate division to match their skill level and then teams will be selected as evenly as possible to make the league as competitive and even as possible.
Q: Can my son/daughter request to play with their friends?
A: During registration, you will have the opportunity to request two friends to play with. We will take this into consideration when selecting teams. We will also be looking to pair up kids from out of town so parents can arrange carpooling, etc.
Q: How much does it cost to play?
A: $395.00 Tax included. This will include roughly 15 ice times which equals $26.33 per ice time.
Q: How many teams and divisions will there be?
A: We are hoping to get enough registrations to fill 6 teams and 4 divisions for a total of 24 teams. Our goal is to make each division as equal and competitive as possible which will play a huge part in all kids competing with kids of similar skill level. The divisions will be formatted as follows:
Elite Division – Strongest 72 players (2014-2013)
All Star Division – Strongest 73-144 players (2015-2013)
Pro Division – Strongest 145-216 players (2016-2014)
Rookie Division – Strongest 217-288 players (2017-2015)
Teams will follow the original 6 NHL teams and the same teams will exist in each division (Elite Maple Leafs, Pro Maple Leafs, etc.). Some adjustments may be required depending on registration numbers.
Q: How many players will play on each team?
A: With full registration numbers, teams will consist of 12 players and 1 goalie
Q: What will be the length of the games?
A: Games will be 50 minutes in length. We are still working on the finer details of how the game will be played. We want to eliminate as many delays as we can and keep the kids moving for the full 50 minutes.
Q: What is the plan if a goalie can’t make a game?
A: We will be looking to have goalie affiliates that could play in the event that a goalie can’t make a game.
Q: Who will the coaches be?
A: As part of registration, you will be asked if you are willing to volunteer to be a coach/trainer/etc.
Coaches/Trainers will be selected based on qualifications and experience.
Sincerely,
Shoreline Hockey
