NEXT LEVEL IS NOW: Shoreline Hockey Launches Nexgen Development Programming

PORT ELGIN & OWEN SOUND โ€” The modern game of hockey isnโ€™t just about skating fast; itโ€™s about thinking and executing at top speed in high-traffic areas. This summer, young athletes in Grey-Bruce have a direct pathway to elite skill acquisition.

From May through August 2026, Shoreline Hockey is launching its premier Nexgen Development programming. Operating out of both Owen Sound and Port Elgin, this specialized training series is engineered to transition static skills into dynamic, real-game habits.

โšก The Power of Reactive Countering Training

At the core of the Nexgen curriculum is the world-renowned Power Edge Pro (PEP) training system. Trusted by NHL superstars like Connor McDavid and Connor Bedard, this method challenges traditional oversimplified cone drills by utilizing patented multi-overload tactical gear.

Instead of gliding through a predictable path, players are forced to multi-task in real time. The training focuses on four major pillars of development:

  • ๐Ÿง  Cognitive Overload (Game IQ): By introducing multi-layered obstacles, players learn to synch their hands, feet, and vision simultaneously. This builds the spatial awareness needed to solve defensive pressure before making contact.

  • ๐Ÿ”„ Reactive Countering Tactics: Players learn to attack tight spaces, execute deceptive edge-work, and instantly relocate the puck through small lanesโ€”crucial for dominating small-area play.

  • ๐Ÿš€ Linear Crossover Speed: Circuits are designed to build elite transitional speed, forcing a powerful skating stride with a low stride-to-crossover ratio to generate separation from back-checkers.

  • ๐Ÿ’ High-Volume Tactical Repetitions: Rather than standing in long lines, players log between 250 to 450 active puck touches per session, embedding muscle memory and puck recovery habits into pure instinct.

๐Ÿ“… Program Schedule & Details

The Nexgen summer progression is built to fit seamlessly into your offseason routine, ensuring players stay sharp, conditioned, and confident ahead of fall tryouts.
